SDF troops board US military’s Osprey aircraft for first time
Members of Japan’s Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) boarded the U.S. military’s MV-22 Osprey, the controversial tilt-rotor aircraft, for the first time this week as part of joint exercises. However, Japan’s first use of the transport planes didn’t take place in Okinawa, where the stationing of the potentially unsafe Ospreys has resulted in heavy protest from locals.
