Boeing Receives Additional Aircraft Support Contract from US Navy
ST. LOUIS, June 14, 2013 - Boeing [NYSE: BA] will continue to ensure the availability of U.S. aircraft including the F/A-18 Hornet, AV-8B Harrier, EA-6B Prowler and V-22 Osprey through a $5.5 million U.S. Navy contract to maintain the Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated Automated Support System (RTCASS).
The U.S. Marine Corps and Air Force Special Operations use RTCASS – which Boeing also manufactures – to troubleshoot aircraft subsystems including flight controls, radar and electronic warfare systems.
"This follow-on contract continues our partnership with the Navy to maintain a valuable diagnostic tool that helps increase aircraft availability and lower spares costs," said Tim Murphy, RTCASS program manager for Boeing.
Boeing has produced more than 150 RTCASS stations since 2003 and has provided contractor logistics support since the system was operationally fielded in 2009.
