First lady casualty in military

Lt Kiran Shekhawat was part of the naval women's contingent that marched down Rajpath this Republic Day. Today, her body was retrieved from the fuselage of the Dornier that "ditched into the sea" on Tuesday night. A routine training sortie had claimed the life of the young woman - the first lady officer in the armed forces - post-Independence - to be killed in the line of duty.
