The U.S. Marine Corps is moving towards a streamlined fleet of Lockheed Martin F-35B and C-model Lightning IIs for all of its tactical aircraft (TACAIR) needs post-2030. While USMC leadership juggles the exact planning over the number of the stealthy fighters it will need to meet future requirements, both the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II and F/A-18A-D Hornet fleets will continue to provide Close Air Support (CAS) for Marines on the ground and air cover above the battlefield.

RAF, US Marine, Air Force fighters join NATO allies for joint exercise

Fighter aircraft from the Royal Air Force, US Marines, US Air Force and the Royal Netherlands Air Force have joined forces to conduct large scale air combat exercises over the North Sea. Exercise Point Blank is a regular quarterly exercise based in the UK, conducted by the Royal Air Force and the US Air Force. For this exercise both RAF and US Marine Corps F-35B jets are taking part as the first step in their training, ready for deployment on HMS Queen Elizabeth.
