Maybe the NGAD Program Isn’t Dead Yet

Last year, the United States Air Force pressed “pause” on its Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program, citing costs and future capabilities of the sixth-generation manned aircraft that was among the “system of systems” that the service sought to employ. NGAD was meant to be the eventual replacement for the Air Force’s Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor, but its future has been far from clear in recent months.

The United Arab Emirates received a first batch of French Rafale fighter jets Thursday under a deal made with France in 2021, in a sign of deepening ties between the two countries. NORAD Sends Fighter Patrols to Monitor Russian Military Flights in the Arctic

U.S. Air Force F-35s and Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18s conducted combat air patrols in response to Russian military aircraft operating in the Arctic early this week, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said in a news release Jan. 30. NORAD also said it sent two U.S. Air Force F-16s from Alaska to Greenland, “exercising its standard agreement with Greenland to forward posture NORAD presence in the Arctic,” but stated that the move was “not in response to any current threat.”
